A new neighbourhood connect/coffee group is to start at Life Church's La Vida Centre on Wednesday, 23 May.
The group will be called Te Ora Hub, and will meet fortnightly.
Organiser Mana Harema says the aim is to provide a comfortable, relaxed, safe and welcoming place for locals within the community.
The name comes from Maori:
• Te means The
• Ora means = to be alive, well, safe, cured, recovered, healthy, fit, healed.
• Hub means = the effective centre of an activity
It will be an addition to other Wednesday activities at the Hansons Lane centre, which include Lets Chat - an English speaking class; Move - an alternative to yoga; and a Craft group (which are aimed at women). After these programs, Life Cafe will be open for a free tea, coffee, milo and homemade baking. Anyone from the community can come along and connect with others.
