Migrants frequently find it hard to get a job in New Zealand, sometimes because of language skills, sometimes because employers want "New Zealand experience", and so on... One way in is to do volunteer work, which provides valuable work experience in a New Zealand context.
In a first for the South Island, Volunteering New Zealand is partnering with Volunteering Canterbury to deliver interactive migrant and volunteering workshops for recent migrants. There will be two workshops, on Tuesday 6th November -- one from 1.30-3.00pm, and the second from 5.30-7.00pm. They are designed to inform recent migrants about the opportunities and benefits of volunteering in New Zealand.
In a relaxed and informal environment, participants will explore the unique needs of recent migrants and the opportunities to connect with local community organisations through volunteering. Please RSVP to (spaces are limited).
