A draft landscape plan to refurbish Harrington park has been released by the City Council. It proposes replacing most of the existing play equipment, and some landscaping works. The flying fox will be replaced with one a bit shorter, but part of the existing mound will be kept to provide height for the new flying fox.
Two new picnic tables and three park benches will be added. Not every item in the park is up for renewal. The cricket net, basketball court and the bulldozer will remain in their current locations and the cricket pitch will have minor repairs only.
Consultation on the plan is open until 18 March via the Council website (www.ccc.govt.nz), and council staff will be at Harrington Park on Wednesday 6 March, between 2.00 and 4.00pm, to talk about the proposals.
