The Christchurch City Council says all facilities will remain open during the return to Alert Level 2 announced by the government.
Hornby-Halswell-Riccarton ward chairman, Mike Mora, says the council will contact trace everyone who enters any of the recreation and sport centres, libraries and other facilities. The main way of doing this will be through the Government tracing app. For those people who do not have a smartphone, a sign-in register will be available on entry. Steps will be put in place to ensure people can maintain physical distancing.
The kerbside collection of rubbish and recycling will continue as normal in Christchurch and Banks Peninsula. Council sports grounds are open under Alert Level 2 and it will be up to the individual sports codes to determine whether their games can proceed this weekend.
Regular bus timetables will continue to operate but the network's urban service capacity will be limited, particularly at peak times.
"I understand these are stressful times for many of you and want to assure you that your community board members and governance team are here to provide support and advice," Mr Mora says.
