ROAR – Riccarton On A Roll – is a community expo being planned for the 22nd September, to showcase Riccarton activities and the wider Riccarton community.
The event – to be held at the new Rārākau: Riccarton Centre in Clarence St – is being planned by the City Council’s Community Development Workers, and is an opportunity for you to promote your organisation, showcase your activities and at the same time network with other groups in the community.
“We're providing the space, the event marketing and the time. We just need groups and people to come along and show the community what Riccarton is all about,” said Community Development Worker Marie Byrne.
She says they would love to have interactive displays or activities. These could include performances by cultural groups, demonstrations of activities, providing ethnic food, or “have-a-go” activities.
The staff are asking for anyone interested to get in touch with them as soon as possible. “We need you in the community to make this a success – without you we have nothing to profile,” said Marie.
