Two more Riccarton locations have been added to the "Give Gear Get Great" initiative, which recycles outgrown, used or unused sports equipment back to those who need it.

After a couple of conversations and perfect timing, Ania Szurpicka and Nicki Aitken had a kids programme up and running.
The 'Wonderful Me' programme was funded by the Waipuna-Riccarton-Halswell-Hornby community board through the University of Canterburys' 'Christchurch 101' course.
The UC course had students locate a community group that needed funding and pitch it to the local community board. Out of the six ideas pitched, 'Wonderful Me' was one of three winning projects. Each project was allocated $500.
A free after-school coding club is being offered for children years 5-8!
Code Club Aotearoa, Christchurch City Libraries and Verizon Connect are proud to offer a free Code Club for school children years 5-8. The Code Club will run for one hour per week during the school term, and VerizonConnect technologists will support the children to learn to code. Sessions start Thursday 16th August and run from 4.15 – 5.15pm

Have you ever wanted to organise a Neighbourhood gathering? Do you want to get to know the people who live close to you? Perhaps you've always wanted to put on a potluck for the whole street...
Neighbourhood Week is about bringing people closer together, and celebrating the unique and diverse mix of each neighbourhood. A neighbourhood could also be a small group of families at a local kindergarten, play centre, kohanga reo, school, church or a community group who share a common desire to build a strong community together.
The Christchurch Adventure Park is on a mission to help the community in the coming weeks.
Connor Duncan Caley (the young son of Karen Duncan Caley, a member of the Bunnings Activities Team) is unwell after surgery for a brain tumour. Additionally, the family have suffered financial hardship after losing their home following the Christchurch earthquakes. Equally, they have suffered financial hardship caring for a younger child while also supporting Connor in his rehabilitative care at Starship Hospital, Auckland. Connor has had to endure hundreds of life-saving procedures. The father’s loss of employment has further complicated their dilemmas.
Karen has been actively involved in the Riccarton community and the Riccarton West Community Garden.The Garden would like to show their appreciation by helping them in some small way. And a fundraising event to help in Connor's ongoing treatment is to be held at the Halo Bar, 668 Wharenui Road, Riccarton, on Saturday 28 July.
Entertainment will be provided by the Blues Brothers and friends, and ticket numbers will be limited to 350.
Richard K Lee has been elected as the new Chairperson of the Riccarton Neighbourhood Support Group (RNSG).
Here he introduces himself, and the aims of the Support Group.
"Kia Ora. My family moved into the Riccarton area from Wellington in 200 and have settled in the neighbourhood since. Originally from Kuching, the Borneo side of Malaysia, I first set foot in Wellington in 1978 to pursue my tertiary education at Victoria University. I continued with my post-graduate studies at Massey University in Palmerston North.
